For the 16th year in a row, Cal Poly has been rated the best public-master's university in the West by U.S. News & World Report, in its 2009 America's Best Colleges guidebook. This year, Cal Poly’s College of Engineering was named the No. 1 public engineering program in the nation in the magazine's Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs--for schools whose highest degree is a bachelor's or master's. The university has been extremely successful at preparing students to get down to work. For the past decade, 92 to 96 percent of Cal Poly students report working full-time or attending graduate school within one year of graduation.

Hundreds of firms recruit and employ Cal Poly graduates each year, and Cal Poly hosts from 300 to 600 employers each year (such as Adobe, Deloitte & Touche, Gallo, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft and many more) through its highly effective on-campus recruiting program and job fair events.
